Because this is the digital era, this season, the brand focuses on the expression achieved through the simple manual work of kirigami (cutting designs into paper.) The brand attached itself to the method of cutting out the pattern by hand and to patterns made with primitive, straight-line cuts. A window display featuring works by Didier Ahadsi, one of the artists leading the world of contemporary art in West Africa, will be on view from December 8 (Thu). He cuts out scenes from everyday life in Africa, his homeland, with a unique perspective of irony and humor, and creates works of art using tin materials such as waste cans and vivid acrylic colors.
The works are not only fun to look at, but also offer the enjoyment of allowing the viewer to picture the story behind each of the scenes.

Didier Ahadsi
Didier Ahadsi was born in 1970. He worked as an automotive sheet metal worker for six years from 1992, and became independent as an artist in 2000. He held his first exhibition in 2007 at Lübeck in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

On November 13 (Sun), an event entitled The Sound of Healing by Daniel Coughlin begins from 8:00 pm. Daniel Coughlin, an acoustic guitarist, will perform live in the store, which will be filled with the atmosphere of Christmas.

Daniel Coughlin
Daniel Coughlin is an acoustic guitar player originally from Fukushima Prefecture. He actively plays a variety of roles in many quarters, such as playing in halls, restaurants and various events, and as a composer and arranger in charge of music for TV programs and stage plays. He is also a street musician with the official recognition of the government of Tokyo, referred to as a “heaven artist,” and gives free live performance at various locations in Tokyo.

Kyou Mo Ikiteiru-Yokattane (Good! We’re Alive Now), a special exhibition of works by Seitaro Kuroda held in SEMBA store in August and in GINZA store until November 9 (Wed), shows 60 pieces of work by Seitaro Kuroda, expressing his hope to make the people who visit the exhibition think about life. T-shirts featuring five pieces of his work from among these are on sale from October 13 (Thu).

Special display by Ms. Fumie Shibata that shows the works, inspired by the ISSEY MIYAKE AUTUMN WINTER 2011 Collection “RONDO #2”, just started under the title "Special Window Display: Fumie Shibata meets ISSEY MIYAKE,” at the store with new September merchandise.
On September 2, we hold a talk event "Creators Talk" with Ms. Shibata from 19:00.

Fumie Shibata
Fumie Shibata is the CEO of Design Studio S. In 1990, after graduating from Musashino Art University where she studied in the Department of Industrial, Interior and Craft Design, she began working for Toshiba Design Center before founding Design Studio S in 1994. She exerts her talents in the area of industrial design, ranging broadly from the design of electronics products and daily commodities to the total design direction of a hotel. She proposes designs that matches the users’ lifestyle.

Workshop by an illustrator Seitaro Kuroda was held today.

New merchandises were just launched on August 4.

An installation by DRAWING AND MANUAL, which was transfered from ELTTOB TEP ISSEY MIYAKE / GINZA, also started.

Miyamoto, who was born and raised in Ginza, and Satoh, who established his office there, will talk about the past, present and future of Ginza from the standpoints of design, art, etc.

Invitations to this event will be selected by lottery and entries for this Talk Event will be accepted from 00:00 on February 18 to 23:00 on March 2.

On March 11, 2011 (Friday), ELTTOB TEP ISSEY MIYAKE Opens in Ginza.

The new shop will adhere to the ELTTOB TEP ISSEY MIYAKE basic concept of operating as a complex shop that gives customers the opportunity to enjoy shopping across brands while flexibly making available highly sensitive products and holding events. At the same time, it is envisioned as a shop that will provide value that satisfies an adult spirit of play, as befits its location in Ginza.

To commemorate the opening, the new shop will be featuring limited items from all ISSEY MIYAKE INC. brands.

Naro Tamiya’s creative works expressed with felt materials and patchwork are unique because of their colorfulness. A special exhibition of his works, NARO’S WONDERLAND, will be held at ELTTOB TEP ISSEY MIYAKE.
This exhibition tells the story of stylish extra-terrestrial “Naronnians” who came for shopping from the Planet Naro, and showcases works from 2005 to the latest in a surprising and enjoyable way.
In addition, a workshop for parents and children to make stylish extra-terrestrials will be held on September 18 (Sat). Dress up a plain human-shaped plush toy with felts, fabrics and paints! It is an event in which parents and children can participate to make a stylish extra-terrestrial together with Mr. Tamiya.
We are also planning to provide goods that show Mr. Tamiya’s illustrations during this exhibition. Please stop by our shop, which becomes even more energetic during this period!

Furthermore, every day during the campaign, a mobile café will be in front of our store and sell coffee in a specially-designed cup. Please feel free to stop by and have a delicious cup of coffee! Experience the harmony of this season’s theme of ISSEY MIYAKE ( men ) “CAFÉ”, with real “café” in this special event “UN CAFÉ?”!

Atsushi Sakata is a modern street ethnic musician who plays the shamisen, a traditional Japanese musical instrument, incorporating his peculiar perspective and philosophy.
His attitude to create a highly unique world of sounds that resonate between reality and inner world, the “self” and the “not-self,” which are stemmed from his lifestyle, while pursuing a true genuine expression, sympathizes with the noble spirit inherent to any kind of art.

“GREEN FROM THE BOTTLE” is an environmental approach by ELTTOB TEP ISSEY MIYAKE, which agrees with the reforestation activities of “more trees.”

From April 16 (THU) to May 6 (WED), an installation will be exhibited to allow visitors feel familiar with the activities of “more trees,” which mainly aim to restore forests that absorb CO2.
In addition, throughout the year, we will offer ELTTOB TEP ISSEY MIYAKE original related products that give part of their sales to charities. Also, the “No Wrapping Movement,” which provides part of the packaging costs, that were unused in occasions where customers agreed not to use shopping bags, to support environmental activities, will be implemented during the year.

We hope that our effort will motivate you to think together about the environment, and will lead you to put ideas into practice

“more trees” is a limited intermediate corporation established by five founders, namely Ryuichi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono, Yukihiro Takahashi, Shinichi Nakazawa and Moichi Kuwahara, as well as more than 100 supporters from all quarters. True to its name, under the slogan of “more trees,” the corporation implements activities in order to increase trees, to multiply the number of healthy forests, to augment the amount of CO2 absorbed by forests, and to restore the water retaining capacity and the capability to develop biodiversity that are inherent to forests.
The corporation wishes to become a universal platform wherein everyone can share the real sense of joy that reforestation is progressing, and aims to cause a movement that makes progress in realizing a society, which relies on natural energy derived as a gift from forests, water and sunshine.

The lineup for the SPRING SUMMER 2008 matohu Collection has arrived at our store.
This season’s matohu Collection fully expresses the brand’s unique sense of beauty by way of using rich textiles with the theme of “Shino.” We are offering a wide variety of items ranging from western-style kimonos in beautiful shapes to jackets for all-season use, which are suitable for wear under coats in chilly early spring weather as well as for wear as outer garments in relatively warm weather. * THE WIND *

The SPRING SUMMER 2008 Collection of ELTTOB TEP will be unveiled on Thursday, January 10, 2008.

The theme of the SPRING SUMMER 2008 ISSEY MIYAKE Collection is “The Wind.” This collection aims to express various aspects of the wind, determined by way of observing the wind and then examining the surrounding flow of air and the natural setting. This collection offers an ever more sophisticated lineup of denim apparel through the “A-POC GALAXY” series.

* The collection offers a wide array of items inspired by the wind as well as a clothing line featuring weather pattern symbols indicating a variety of manifestations of wind, including cyclones and anticyclones.

The theme of the SPRING SUMMER 2008 matohu Collection is “Shino.”
“Shino” is a style of pottery produced with the unique Japanese sense of beauty. “Shino” potteries began production in the Momoyama Period in the late 16th century, with the use of colors and shapes that exist in the natural surroundings. This SPRING SUMMER collection is characterized by an accidental beauty wherein the combination of nature and artifice has allowed for the creation and presentation of clothes that embody the abundant beauty of the “Shino” style depicted on pottery.

The new lineup of the SPRING SUMMER 2008 matohu Collection will appear at the ELTTOB TEP store on Thursday, January 24, 2008.

* Blue Harmony *

The theme of HaaT’s SPRING SUMMER 2008 Collection is “Blue Harmony.” In particular, the brand is focusing on colors and patterns produced with Calico fabric.

“Calico” is the name generally used for “cotton fabric that has dyed patterns on it.” This type of fabric originated in India and has since achieved widespread worldwide appeal, and today we can find calico products in a variety of patterns and material. HaaT is focusing on the “Toile de Jouy” made at a factory in Jouy, France, between 1760 and 1843. The brand has arranged the fabric in a variety of contexts and launched this colorful collection with a sense of seasonal attunement.

ELTTOB TEP is closed on January 9 for getting ready for SPRING SUMMER 2008 launching on the 10th.

A party will be held between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2007, at the ELTTOB TEP store. Under the direction of graphic designer Taku Satoh the store has been transformed into space decorated with Christmas atmosphere for the day. Partygoers can enjoy drinks, finger food, and live music.
ELTTB TEP’s original USB memory sticks will be given to the first 300 customers who purchase 10,000 yen or more worth of products on the day (one for each customer).
